Project specs:
Pattern: Hermione mittens (slightly modified)
Yarn: Beaverslide Dry Goods 2-ply worsted in "Chokecherry Heather"
Needles: US size 6 dpn
Not the best photo, but can you see how the cables mirror each other? I love that.
Once these were done, I turned my attention to the bookshelf to scout out the next pair of mittens. I'm considering several pairs from Folk Knitting In Estonia and a pair or two from Folk Mittens. These are both wonderful books, but there's something about Nancy Bush's designs that really fires the imagination. There's a beautiful pair in the Estonian book called (I think) "Hilja's Mittens", which I'm very much drawn to, but they look suspiciously fussy, with lots of little 1-stitch floats. I'm more concerned about learning to maintain even tension over long floats, so I should probably choose another pair. But this pair really appeals to me for some reason. (It's probably the lace cuff.)

Wow. Those look FANTASTIC. If you can finish the scarf in time you'll be outfitted for the movie in style!
I LOVE them! LOVE! In fact, so much love that I have bought the pattern and am dreaming of a yarn. :) Imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery.
Can't wait to see the next pair!
NEXT!
:)
Beautiful! How was the Beaverslide to work with? I've heard lovely things, have the color cards, but still haven't bought any.
So pretty! If I wouldn't have to finifsh loads of other mittens and gloves then I would knit a pair for me too. They are georgous. I think you should go for a pattern that appeals to you, no matter if you 'learn' something.
Oh yes, give them a try. You'll get better at stranding with each pair you do.
mmmmmm, Estonian mittens. You're obviously on a roll, here.
Go for it. And let us watch.
Gorgeous mittens! Yep, it's time...my hands are absolutely freezing...
They are so pretty! I am trying really hard not to spend any money on patterns or yarn right now... but I think those might be impossible to resist. I love them!
